Collect+ has announced the opening of a Royal Mail shop at Gridserve’s Electric Forecourt in Stevenage, introducing a combined parcel and EV charging offer in a single location.

The facility enables customers to collect, send and return parcels while charging their electric vehicles at Gridserve’s Electric Forecourt. The initiative brings together Collect+, Royal Mail, and parent company International Distribution Services as part of a wider partnership, with PayPoint supporting delivery.

Location and Facilities

Located just off the A1, the Stevenage site is positioned to serve both local residents and those travelling through the area. The forecourt includes more than 25 charging bays available 24 hours a day, while the on-site building is open daily from 7am to 9pm.

Visitors also have access to additional amenities including Costa Coffee and the Little Fresh Good to Go convenience store, providing refreshments and everyday essentials during charging sessions.

First-of-Its-Kind UK Concept

The opening represents the first physical Royal Mail shop located at an EV forecourt in the UK, reflecting a shift towards integrating parcel services into locations where customers already spend time.

“Bringing parcel services closer to people was at the heart of this partnership with Royal Mail. As more people switch to electric vehicles, they’re looking for convenient places to charge while getting on with their day.
“This first-of-its-kind store in Stevenage makes that possible for local residents and is just the start of a wider plan to make dropping off, collecting and returning parcels easier for drivers across the country.”

Sam Holden, Managing Director of Parcels and Ecommerce at PayPoint

The Stevenage site forms part of a broader strategy to expand parcel access points, aligning with changing mobility patterns and the increasing adoption of electric vehicles.
