Urban Outfitters is to open a 6,500 sq ft store at Lakeside Shopping Centre in summer 2026, occupying space on the lower level and further strengthening the scheme’s fashion offer.

The store will present the brand’s mix of menswear, womenswear, accessories and homeware, including proprietary ranges such as Urban Outfitters Masterbrand, BDG, iets frans., Kimchi Blue, Loom and Ayker, all designed in-house at its London head office. The retailer will also stock third-party labels including Levi’s, Dickies and Carhartt WIP.

Targeting a younger, fashion-focused demographic, the arrival is expected to broaden Lakeside’s customer base while reinforcing its position as a leading fashion destination in the region.

Experiential Focus

Known for experiential retail environments, the new Urban Outfitters space is intended to operate as both store and cultural hub. Plans include areas designed for social connection, curated music and a lifestyle-led retail offer. The approach aligns with Lakeside’s strategy to extend dwell time from day into evening and create repeat visitation through experience-led retail.

Ongoing Investment At Lakeside

The signing marks a further step in the ongoing repositioning of Lakeside Shopping Centre, which is owned by SGS UK Retail and asset managed by Pradera Lateral. The scheme has seen more than £100 million invested by brand partners in shopfits over the past three years. Following what has been described as a strong 2025, with notable sales growth, the investment programme is contributing to both physical upgrades and commercial performance at the Essex destination.

Urban Outfitters joins a line-up that includes recent investment from existing occupiers such as Next and JD, both of which have upsized their stores. The scheme has also seen enhancements to M&S, alongside forthcoming openings from Bershka, The White Company and Hollister later this year.

“Driven by a multi-million-pound CAPEX investment and an expansive leasing strategy, 2026 is set to be a transformative year for Lakeside. The arrival of Urban Outfitters reinforces that Lakeside is the place to be for brands that want visibility, volume and long-term growth, and marks an exciting beginning to the calendar year.”
