Brazilian fashion label FARM Rio is reimagining traditional holiday motifs through its signature tropical lens with a new installation at its Carnaby store in London. The festive window display was created in partnership with the Brazilian collective Pirilampos do Planeta, combining colour, craftsmanship and sustainable materials.
The display incorporates metres of LED strip lighting and upcycled plastic waste sourced mainly from the beauty and fashion industries. Featuring toucans, macaws, ribbons and ornaments, the installation was designed to reflect FARM Rio’s current holiday campaign. Hand-painted glass panels by FARM Rio print designer Paulo Marcelo Oz form part of the composition, offering a playful blend of nature-inspired imagery and festive elements.

The project was developed in collaboration with three waste picker collectives based in the State of Rio de Janeiro. According to FARM Rio, the initiative directly supports around 60 families, while underscoring the brand’s commitment to responsible socio-environmental practices. By transforming discarded materials into high-impact visual storytelling, the project exemplifies an approach that merges environmental responsibility with contemporary aesthetics.

The Carnaby display is part of a broader initiative that spans multiple locations. A second installation appears on King’s Road, also in London, while similar displays are scheduled for FARM Rio Soho in New York and Casa FARM in Rio de Janeiro. In Brazil, the concept will extend to a large outdoor Christmas tree positioned outside the flagship, continuing the celebration with a distinctly tropical twist.

Pirilampos do Planeta, founded by Lula Duffrayer and Flávio Carvalho, is a creative project rooted in rural Teresópolis. Combining artistic production with environmental education, the group works with local artisans to create illuminated artworks from discarded materials. Known for their signature light-chain sculptures, their installations have become a way to engage audiences while promoting sustainable design.
Print designer and illustrator Paulo Marcelo Oz, whose artwork features throughout the holiday campaign, has been part of FARM Rio’s creative team for four years. Originally trained in architecture in Paris, he has since shifted to visual arts and design, winning accolades including the Brasil Design Award and recognition from the Brazilian Graphic Design Biennial.
The collaborative project reflects FARM Rio’s ongoing emphasis on joyfully reinterpreting seasonal traditions through a lens of inclusivity, creativity and environmental awareness.
